Challengenée 2013
The Genée International Ballet Competition is returning to the UK in 2013 and will be hosted for the first time in Glasgow, Scotland from 20–29 September. In support of this event RAD members and staff have already been working hard to raise funds. The RAD regional team and RAD Directors took part in the Highland Fling Humiliation! RAD tutor Karen Berry put the team through their paces as we learn the arduous Highland fling & sword dance. Have a look at them in action and if you would like to show your support for their efforts, please visit http://www.justgiving.com/challengenee2013 and make a donation.
Congratulations to Clare Robson, Principal of Prima Academy of Performing Arts, Washington, Tyne and Wear, who held a non-uniform/fancy dress day at her school for the 3 - 4 years old and raised £106 towards Challengenée.

Congratulations
The 2013 North West Scholarship Auditions held at Elliott Clark Performing College, Liverpool had a wonderfully busy day on Sunday 21 April. Nearly 100 students came through the door ranging from Grade 2s all the way through to Intermediate.
Michael Berkin, who has danced professionally with companies including the Royal New Zealand Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Ballet Ireland, took exciting classes focusing on technique, musicality and performance which were independently adjudicated by retired RAD Examiners, Barbara Peters and Judy Craven.
'The girls were a real credit to the dance school, they coped extremely well with incredibly difficult dance choreography and it was a real eye opener to me to see how far they have come with their dance studies, they all had an amazing time and thoroughly enjoyed their day out and would love to take part in anymore of those types of events. Many Thanks for the opportunities you have given them."
