Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) Coppélia Ballet Works...
The Royal Academy of Dance offers a wide range of courses, classes and workshops for young people
Children across Wales have the opportunity to take part in an upcoming children’s workshop run by the Royal Academy of Dance, where they will learn steps from the famous ballet, Coppélia.
The workshop will take place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff on Sunday 13 May. It will give children the opportunity to learn steps from Coppélia, which features an eccentric inventor who creates his very own life-size dancing doll. They will experience the magic of this fun and colourful ballet through dance, music, acting, make-up and storytelling.
Professional ballerina, Catherine Loveless, who has toured the world performing with the English National Ballet, will be teaching the workshop. Catherine commented: ‘Having performed Coppélia as a professional dancer I am really looking forward to coming to Cardiff to teach the Coppélia Children's workshop in May. It will be great to work with the children on their interpretations of the story, teach dances and pass on some real life stories from the stage!’
One parent whose son attended one of the RAD’s previous children’s workshops described it as ‘a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience which my son thoroughly enjoyed’.
Applicants interested in the upcoming Coppélia workshop should contact Katie Hart, RAD Training Officer on 020 7326 8025 or khart@rad.org.uk. Application forms can be downloaded from the Education and Training section of the RAD website (www.rad.org.uk).
