Use of cookies on this website

Cookies are text files that websites place on visitors' computers to store a range of information, usually specific to that visitor. They were created to overcome a limitation in web technology: web pages are 'stateless' which means that they have no memory, and cannot easily pass information between each other. This website does NOT use cookies. However, we do use a service offered by Google, called Google Analytics, which uses cookies.

Google Analytics monitors the traffic on our website and helps us improve its usability by understanding how you engage with the information and how you navigate through it. Google Analytics collects information anonymously and, much like examining footprints in sand, it reports website trends without identifying individual visitors. Google Analytics uses its own set of cookies to track visitor interactions. These cookies are used to store information, such as what time the visit occurred, whether the visitor has been on the site before, and what site referred the visitor to the web page. We can view a variety of reports about how visitors interact with our website so we can improve our website and how people find it. A different set of cookies is used for each website and visitors are not tracked across multiple sites.

Google Analytics uses only first-party cookies. This means that all cookies set by Google Analytics for our website send data only to our servers. This effectively makes Google Analytics cookies our personal property, and the data cannot be altered or retrieved by any service on any other domains.

How to opt-out of Google Analytics cookies
To provide our website visitors more choice on how their data is collected, Google Analytics have developed the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. By installing this on to your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, etc.) information about your website visit will no longer be sent to Google Analytics.
