The Royal Academy of Dance offers a wide range of courses, classes and workshops for young people
The 76th Annual General Meeting was held at RAD headquarters in Battersea, London on Thursday 26 April 2012. Have a look at the draft minutes and voting results.
907 members voted in total which represents 14% of the eligible voting membership at the time of the AGM 2012 (6,401 members). This is a positive increase on the 2011 voting statistics (652 members representing 10% of the eligible voting membership), however we will be working with the National Directors, Managers and Representatives around the world to devise a strategy to increase the voting numbers significantly.
Of note, resolution 5 - to elect Miss Darcey Bussell CBE as President of the Royal Academy of Dance has been carried. Please note that the Special Members Motion was also carried (553 in favour / 311 against). As such the management team are developing a plan of action which will be presented to the Board of Trustees for approval and shared with the members in due course.
The formal business of the AGM was followed by gala luncheon in honour of the RAD's outgoing President Dame Antoinette Sibley which attracted a star-studded guest list from the dance world. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a bronze bust, specially commissioned by the Academy thanks to donations from Members and Friends as well as the awarding of the Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Coronation Award to Dame Antoinette, by the RAD Board of Trustees.
